Well-known actress Wendy Craig says:
"Michael Quinlyn-Nixon's teddies are charming - so full of character and
humour. I look forward to turning the pages of my calendar each month and
seeing another well-cuddled bear smiling at me."
These pages will give you an insight into the artist's work and life.
This
illustration Polly in Poppies took five weeks to complete, showing the amount of
time and patience that is required.
"Polly loves the poppies with bright scarlet hue, clothed in the sun or
in the morning dew. Gazing at the poppy meadows so fresh and bright, she
can't imagine a more beautiful sight."
Scarlet poppies - nodding in the breeze are one of the most uplifting
sights of summer. Lovely!
Wildlife is one of Michael's main subjects and he is often in the countryside
looking for ideas and inspiration.
Michael is very fond of butterflies, which give
him a tremendous amount of joy. He describes them as 'flying works
of art' and they, along with poppy fields like the one pictured below,
give him a great sense of peace. I hope you enjoy the butterflies that are
scattered throughout this website!
Legend tells of days of old, when knights were handsome, gallant and
bold.
After slaying a dragon with tongue of flame, a national hero St. George
became.
At the bottom of the garden, our furry hero has found the cave of the
fierce dragon...Are your knees trembling yet!
Michael says," I enjoy drawing flowers and I
re-created St. George's cave at the bottom of my garden so I could include these
forget-me-nots, which are some of my favourite flowers. I am also in
support of St. George's Day being made a national holiday."
